  • 1942

    Founding of the Derrykx Drawing Academy

    In 1942, Lucien Kleber Derrykx, a graduate from the Ecole Boulle, founded the Derrykx Drawing Academy, 66 rue de la Pompe, in the 16th district, Paris

  • 1949

    ESAM School of Higher Education in Modern Arts, is registered with the Paris Education Authority

    Taught specialisations are "advertisement drawing" and "display decoration"

  • 1960

    The school expands rapidly and moves to a second and the present site

    at 17 rue de Jacquemont, in the heart of the Batignolles in the 17th district

  • 1990

    Alain Exer takes over direction of the school

    He directs the teaching towards interior design and visual communications

  • 1995

    Catherine Exer succeeded him up to the present day

    She continues the tradition of teaching based on professional standards and developing the students’ individual talents

  • 2008

    The school is granted national certification and opens to international exchange

    Registered in the National Directory of Professional Certification (RNCP) level II in Interior Design/Design
    Joins the Erasmus programme

  • 2011

    More official acknowledgement of the school’s professional teaching

    30th August 2011 : National certification of the Graphic Design diploma.
    Enters the group of 14 schools professionally recognised by the French Council of Interior Designers (CFAI)

    Return to the CUMULUS network

    Certification at level I of the title of Artistic Director in graphic and digital design
